Camelroc Guest Farm – Caledonspoort

Camelroc guest farm is situated in the Eastern Free State on the border of South Africa and Lesotho, just 10 km from Fouriesburg and less than an hour’s drive from the quaint little town of Clarens. Camelroc is not for the faint hearted, consisting of two incredible trails; a Green figure of 8 trail that is made up of two loops of 5 km and a Blue trail that totals 31 km but has return routes which results in trails of 11 km, 19 km or 23 km. This venue is the essence of ‘trail riding’ and an immense amount of effort has gone into building this trail with a leg burning 2.5 km climb to the top of a mountain where you can take some unforgettable pictures from the camel’s head with some scenic views into Lesotho, followed by some entertaining riding around the plateau with the Maluti Mountains in the background and then the wild descent back down the 2.5 km section that you now do in reverse. Do not be fooled by the distances that are provided as the Green trail will keep you busy for about an hour and the Blue for anywhere between three and five hours, depending on your fitness (or rather strength) level.

Oi!! Take it easy if you are hesitant rather walk some sections.

One bottle of water or two?

Trails vary in distance from 5 km to 31 km but will take you longer than what you are used to for similar distances.
