New Year, New Blog

Happy New Year to all mountain bikers (and road cyclists)!

We hope you are all out on your bikes today in awe of the natural beauty that we are lucky enough to experience from our bikes regularly.

2013 was a great year for us – we launched Cycology 371; trail information centre designed to give you, the enthusiastic rider, the essential knowledge required to find and ride our proudly South African trails safely and effortlessly.

We learnt through experience that finding new trails is a daunting task; we spent many wasted hours (and Rands) trying to locate new and exciting trails online only to sometimes drive kilometres, following sketchy maps and directions, to arrive at derelict or non-existent trails which had obviously not seen a rider in years.

We then decided that seeing as though we were on a mission to travel South Africa – riding every single mountain biking trail we could – anyway, we might as well collate all the information in one place.

We pride ourselves in our accurate GPS co-ordinates given in all three formats, suggested tire pressures and chain lubes to use, brief standardised as well as personalised trail descriptions, and other tips for each trail. If a trail does not feature on Cycology 371 we have either not had the chance to ride it yet or it was not good enough for inclusion, which is why you can be rest assured that following our guides you will be enjoying the time in your saddle, exploring these exhilarating and beautiful places, without the stress and hassle.

Whether you are a beginner or expert rider you will find information on our site that will benefit your riding and maximise the time spent on your mountain bike.

So, if you are looking for new trails to enjoy in the New Year – look no further: we have enough trails on the site to keep you entertained at a different venue every single weekend for five months and we are always looking for more; we would love any trail suggestions for us to try out for possible inclusion on the site.

If you need to find a trail to ride click on our Local Trails page and navigate your way from there.

We were overwhelmed by the support for our website and look forward to finding new trails going forward. If you have any suggestions please email us on info@cycology371.com…

…and we are very excited to announce the launch of our BLOG in 2014!

You can look forward to blog posts from us regularly. The idea for now is to post as follows:

Motivational Mondays – a post in this category should be up every second Monday and is pretty self-explanatory: we want to motivate you to stay fit, stay strong and ride to the best of your ability!

Music Mondays – every other Monday we will be posting a playlist for you to use in your cycling training complete with suggestions for level, tempo and time you should be spinning at for each song.

How to Tuesdays – These posts will include anything from how to fix a chain, how to prep for race day, how to build core strength, how to make getting up early easier, how to wash a bike properly, how to mount your bikes on the wall, how to climb like a pro and how to do basically anything.

Wellness Wednesdays – In this category we will be exploring nutrition, sleep, recovery and will be featuring interviews and discussions with health professionals.

Trusted Mountain Bike Trail Thursdays – On Thursdays keep an eye out on our Twitter and Facebook pages for ideas on which trails to try out at the weekends and for upcoming races.

Fantasy Fridays – This should be fun! We will be exploring new technology and discoveries in the world of cycling and compiling our wish lists of products, gear and bikes. We will also profile bike tours and adventures across the globe and will be whetting your appetite here.

Blogs are malleable by nature so if we come up with a better format or you do (please let us know!) we will adapt.

In the meantime, enter your email address in the left side bar to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email and for updates via social media please like us on Twitter and follow our Facebook page: @Cycology371 and Cycology371 respectively.
